George, is situated on the Garden Route half-way between two major cities, Cape Town in the Western Cape and Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape. The town is surrounded by the Outeniqua Mountains, forests, rivers and picturesque farmlands. The Race venue is the Outeniqua Nature Reserve at the Witfontein Forestry Station in George. (GPS Coordinates: -33.965446, 22.4880498)
You follow the N9 towards the Outeniqua Pass out of Town, approximately 2km’s from the last traffic circle as you leave town you turn right onto the gravel road that is sign posted Montagu Pass, you follow this gravel road for 1km and the entrance gate to the Outeniqua Nature Reserve and Witfontein Forestry station will be on your right.
By Bus
Long Distance coaches are available from main cities in South Africa.
- From Cape Town the Intercape bus service or Greyhound service will be an option.
- The Bazz Bus Service works well from small town to small towns as well.
- The City of George has its own Go George Bus service that will make commuting in town easier.
By Plane
International flights will need to be booked to Cape Town Intenational Airport or OR Thambo International Airport, from there a domestic flight to George Airport needs to be arranged. From the Airport in George you can get a taxi or arrange for your accommodation to pick you up.
