Listening to Our Runners. What You Told Us About Your MUT Experience
Every year, after the last runner crosses the finish line, we take a moment to pause and listen. Through our post-race satisfaction survey, we ask participants to share their experience — the good, the tough, and everything in between. This isn’t a self-congratulatory article. It’s about showing that we care about what runners think, and that we’re actively working on the points they’ve asked us to improve. Some of those solutions are already in progress and will be shared in the coming months. But first, let’s celebrate what made MUT by UTMB 2025 special for so many. Based on hundreds of open-ended responses, here are the Top 10 things runners appreciated most about the event:
The Outeniqua Mountains were the undisputed stars. Runners described the views as breathtaking, majestic, and worth every climb.
From the race village to the trails, the energy was electric. Words like gees, buzz, and community spirit came up again and again.
Volunteers were described as amazing, friendly, and motivating. Aid stations were well-stocked and full of positive energy.
The start line hype and finish line celebrations were unforgettable. Music, MCs, and cheering crowds made every arrival feel like a victory.
Runners embraced the difficulty. The technical terrain, steep climbs, and long distances were seen as part of the reward.
Whether running with friends or supported by family, many participants highlighted the joy of sharing the journey with loved ones.
The smooth logistics, clear communication, and overall professionalism of the event.
The Sunset Sweatshop concert and race village activities added a festive touch, making MUT feel like a true trail running celebration
Finisher medals were described as beautiful and meaningful. The post-race beer and shirt were also well received.
Many runners felt proud to be part of the UTMB World Series, enjoying the blend of local authenticity and international prestige.
